Program Information

School:Cégep Vanier College
Faculty:Computer Science
Degree:Diploma
Field of Study:Computer Technology/Computer Systems Technology
Description:The Computerized Systems Technology program is unique in that it combines two fields of study—electronics and computers— into one cohesive program. Together, these areas offer a complete technical perspective of the computer technology environment. The understanding of electronic circuitry is enriched with in-depth knowledge of the workings of components such as microprocessors, micro-controllers and programmable logic devices, as well as computer networks. This is a project-based program. Students will learn by working on a project that carries through several courses where they learn and use different techniques. The software component of Computer Engineering Technology focuses on embedded platforms like Linux and on programming languages that are unique to the electrical engineering field such a microprocessor assembly language, C-language, C++, HDL and Python.

Vanier is the only public CEGEP in Montreal or Laval, that offers a 3 year Computerized Systems Technology career program. Graduates can enter the job market as professional technologists or can continue their education towards an engineering degree. Our professionally trained graduates work in a wide range of areas dealing with the development or maintenance of electronic and computer systems.
